Buying a home
I want to buy a home, but the market right now is a little shaky and I am concerned about the future. I was curious as to what people think and if anyone else is as freaked out but also excited about this?
I'm thinking I might check out the market after the holidays. It seems like the inflated pricing and rush to buy we've seen in the recent past may be in decline in the coming months (year?). After a dismal experience trying to become a first time buyer in previous years inflated real estate market it's nice to see some sanity come back into the picture and the advantage shift to the home buyer. With the loan defaults and the slowing economy timing may be right.
The San Mateo County real estate market has remained fairly strong. In some cases it is a buyer's market, good for you. The rates on mortgages have fallen, and there are a lot of first time buyer programs out there if you fall into that category..check out my blog for the latest news on the mortgage market and programs available... http://themortgagereport.typepad.com/
I live in San Mateo and the market is very stable. If you check our msn.com and search for an article about a month ago, San Mateo was among the counties that are the most stable in the country and do not seem to be affected by the housing crisis.
There are some really great opportunities out there to buy right now, particularly in the condo market - but single family homes as well! Let me know if I can help! Anjanette, Alain Pinel Realtors, 650-931-2950 or www.anjanette.us.com
Well it's 6 months later and I'm happy to report I bought my first home! I got a great price, saw a huge reduction from the previous selling price of the same property, was able to negotiate further and really felt like the timing was perfect. I just moved in and couldn't be happier. If you can manage the financing this might be a good time to look and explore your options. I'm so happy the timing worked well for me. Good Luck!
