Great food and atmosphere

Stopped in here the other day because I was curious that a new restaurant had opened on El Camino in Belmont. I’m happy to report that the food is delicious and the atmosphere is really nice. Dark woods, contemporary with an Asian influence - very comfortable and relaxing. I was so impressed I've already been in twice. Then first time in I ordered the crispy seafood egg rolls. They had a great fresh crab flavor. I followed up with the hot and sour soup, the perfect remedy to a chilly day. Once again a delightful mix of pineapple chunks, chicken, tomatoes, basil and bean sprouts. The wait staff is a little green since they're so new, but made up for it in enthusiasm and a willingness to be helpful. Sometimes overly so but I didn't dock them because it's nice to actually get attentive service for a change. I'm sure they'll dial things in once they hit their stride.
The second visit I went in with a friend and we shared the fresh spring rolls with shrimp. This is one of my favorite dishes and they do a great job of it at Chez Saigon. We went on to order the shaken beef, jumbo prawns in garlic noodles and the jumbo shrimp and beef with vermicelli noodles. All were great but the shaken beef was the dish I polished off completely. The portions were generous so I ended up taking some home which was nice. The price is a bit higher than other more generic Vietnamese places but the quality of the food and the atmosphere are well worth it. I recommend you check them out.
