I am considering conducting a study on the effects of acupuncture on panic disorders or anxiety. I am wanting to see if there are any individuals in the San Mateo Area who either have (1) a panic disorder or (2) anxiety. If you are this individual and are interested in being a participant in this type of study, please contact me with the answers to a few questions below. If you know anyone who would be interested in participating, please forward this to them. Thank you. Email to: info@meridiansoflight.com 1. What is your age? 2. How long have you had anxiety? 3. Do you also have depression (and for how long)? Regarding Panic Disorder... 4. How often do you have panic attacks? (ex: once per week, once per month, once every 3 months?) 5. In the past, what has triggered your panic attacks? 6. Does the idea of laying on a massage table with acupuncture needles on your body, in a relatively small room (10x10 feet) make you feel anxious? Thank you so much for your time. If I continue to develop this research study, I will contact you.

This sounds interesting. How often in your practice do people come for the treatment of anxiety and how effective have you found acupuncture to be for lessing worry and stress? Is it effective for generalized anxiety? I may contact you offline to find out more about the study you're considering conducting.

Dear CardKing, People often come in for other problems but find that their anxiety or panic attacks have also decreased from their acupuncture treatments. This occurrence has prompted the development of this study. There are positive findings that show that acupuncture is effective for PTSD, depression, general anxiety, and anxiety around the time of surgery.
