Chinese restaurant?
Is there a favorite chinese restaurant here in san mateo that you like? my neighbor just recommended Silver Lake on El Camino but we were disappointed. We don't particularly like Uncle Chen, nor the one in the Marina Plaza on Norfolk. My favorite is in San Bruno called Innya Lake (chinese/burmese) but it is way too far to go as is the one in Menlo Park.
It's not in San Mateo, but a lot of folks like Gin Mon in Carlmont Village on Ralston (and Alameda) in Belmont.
Mr. Fong's is okay, but my friends and I in Foster City have one we like better: Fortune Star, 173 - 25th Ave., San Mateo. Check out the webcard below:
Mr. Fong's in Edgewater Plaza. Great food, service and view of the lagoon. Always a waiting list on Sundays (tells you something when 90% of those waiting are Chinese)
Thanks to the rec, we will try Mr. Fong's -- have gone to Gin Mon before, and we liked it!
You gotta try the new Little China Kitchen in downtown San Mateo on Third Ave. Delicious, healthy, big portions... and the people who run it are very nice. They opened about a month ago, but they already have lots of reviews on Smalltown. Check it out.
I'm like you - I don't seem to like many of my friends suggestions for Chinese food. I was at a loss for good Chinese food until Little China Kitchen opened up on 3rd Ave. Great food and really nice people. It's my favorite local place now. Highly recommend!!
