I don't know San Mateo restaurants. Can you help me find one that would be good for a late lunch/early dinner. Not expensive, but not cheap, either. Thanks so much for your help. Marilyn

Need a little more information in order to help. I like the late lunch/early dinner idea, too, but most of the restaurants close between 2:00 and 5:00 and dinners start at 5:00. The Van's (in Belmont but near San Mateo) serves lunch until 3:00 (good idea to be there by at least 2:30). Black Angus (near Bridgepoint Shopping Center in San Mateo) serves all the way through, doing lunch until 4:00 and then starting dinner). The place I enjoy a lot and which serves all day (B, L & D) is Dominic's at Poplar Creek, which is on the golf course and a lovely view. These are all reasonably priced, especially the last two. I've attached all three webcards below. Let us know what time you'd like to eat and I may be able to make other suggestions. These are the ones we use for "linner". Debi

If you want a little higher end, try La Lanterna, our favorite on the Peninsula, on 25th Ave.

Try us....Elegant Lagoon Cruises in Foster City. The cruises are all private and therefore booked at a time and date of your choosing. We offer a great catered lunch or dinner (your choice) along with a selection of non-alcoholic beverages. Beer, wine and champagne is also available. This is a totally unique venue. Enjoy your meal as you cruise slowly around the Foster City lagoon in our whisper-quiet electric boat. The ride is completely comfortable, no rocking motion and you are protected from the wind with plexiglass windows all around. Service is upscale....crystal, china, linen and silver. Check out our website (attached).

What about the Left Bank off 101, Hillsdale, Franklin Parkway, two blocks off Saratoga at 1100 Park Place, near the Whole Foods market? They are open for lunch all afternoon and dinner. They are not expensive, but not inexpensive...could be just right depending on your income. You can eat outside or in. They line the tables with white linen table cloths (if the outside tables are not just let them know) and when you finish you can stroll along the beautifully landscaped area and admire the water running from down the entire center of Park Place...just gorgeous. You can really relax and have a nice lunch. Check out the menu for price and selection at LeftBank.com. Have Fun and Enjoy wherever you decide.
