Auto Mechanics?
I am looking for a trusted auto mechanic in San Mateo, can someone recommend a good one they know? Thanks.
What kind of car? If you have a honda.. check out Honda Hospital off 4th and Claremont.
I use San Mateo Tire and Break on B Street near 9th. They are full service and have very reasonable rates.
I use Bob Galli's on 17th Ave. (near Palm). It is family run and they are very trustwothy!! They have been great with both of my cars. I found them from a referral from a friend.
I would like to find a good Toyota mechanic so that I won't have to pay high costs to the Toyota Dealer anymore since my car is getting older. Know of anyone?
If you have an european car, check out Carrera Motors on Claremont near 1st Ave.
I also recommend Bob's shop On palm /17th. I been taking my suv there for close near 4 yrs. excellent sevice and they even remember you when you come back or call!! You can't beat that.
Palm Auto Motors is thorough and quarantees their work. 308 7th Ave, San Mateo (650) 375-8796
The most import thing I llok for in a mechanic after the mechanical aptitude is honesty. I highly recomend Bacey Automotice in San Mateo. Ph # 401-8860. Stan Bacey works on all the cars himself. Smaller is Better. Tell him George sent you.
I've tried almost every auto repair shop in our area but finaly located one that are very pro' , they know what they are doing on my last visit i found that michanics that work at toyota dealer ship bring there own cars to fix it at this shop, and the most open my eyes is that you can watch them from you own home while they fix your car on line live. auto care of redwood shores on 230 old county road and 42 nd ave 650-591-3111 ask for big Jeff
I love Tango's Auto Repair on 21st. Definately give them a try.
I would love to recommend Big-E Automotive is Downtown San Mateo as I often do to all of my friends. These foks are great and I have been taking my vehicles to them for years. Kieren Mannix, the owner is a great mechaninc, is completely trustworthy and alwys recommends that you do what is neccessary to make a repair or be safe but also recommends not to do something that is really not neccessary. His prices are reasonable and I've never, ever had to take something back that wasn't repaired or fixed.

Be sure to drop by to meet Gary Vielbaum at Pacific Auto Repair - 124 Highland Avenue in B'game. 650.343.4931. His family has owned this business for over 60 years, so he has a big stake in the community. Gary is super knowledgeable, they do great work and he's a real gentleman. Tell him Nancy from BRN referred you on Smalltown.
Kano. Been going there for ten years. Great work and service at fair prices.
there is no better service and honest prices in the peninsula than On Track Automotive on California Ave in Burlingame. Mike is straight up about what is wrong with your car and service is quick and always done with a greeting and a smile. A+++
I've had great service at Honda Hospital. They're helpful and honest. I've also heard really good things about On Track Automotive. I guess it depends on the kind of car you need serviced and which place is conveniently located near you.
On Track Automotive. I found these guys through Yelp when I had a weird shifting issue with my Jeep. I searched online for my issue and was armed with a diagnois and what the cost "should" be. When I brought my Jeep in to On Track they agreed that what I thought it was sounded right and quoted me a price - it was the same amount as what online experts and enthusist said it should cost - so I felt like I could trust these guys to not jack up the prices because I was a girl and was clueless when it came to cars. On Track though did not want to replace a part that was not bad so they checked it out and found the real issue, a broken shift index which they fixed for less then what I had originally thought it would cost. These guys are smart and fair.
Definitely go see Gary Vielbaum at Pacific Auto Repair at 124 Highland Ave, Burlingame, 343-4931. He's great, has all the high tech tools and knows how to use them. Best of all he's honest, and a real nice guy to boot!
I LOVE Ruppel's Auto Fixation in Burlingame and have used them for over 10 years. Ken Schrum (the owner) is honest and has serviced our cars on time with reasonable prices. Since Caltrain is there it makes it easy to leave the car and hop on a train to get to work.
You should try Hudson Automotive in San Mateo. It's now run by the owner's son and they've been a local family run business in San Mateo since the 70's. The same crew has been with them for years and the shop is orderly and clean as a whistle. I always see that as a good sign of quality work and meticulous attention to detail. They do great work and even take the time to educated you about the care and maintenance of your car and have even recommended ways for me to save money on repairs. I think you'll be well taken care of at Hudson Automotive.
I know you asked for a mechanic in San Mateo, but I think this guy is worth the drive and checking his service out. His name is Gary Vielbaum, Pacific Auto Repair, 124 Highland Ave., Burlingame, 94010, and his phone number is 650 343-4931. e-mail is info@burlingameautorepair.com, www.burlingameautorepair
Michael at Tangos Autobody in San Mateo off Palm Drive, he is the best and very fair.....I have been going there for years..
Hudson's their the best and they'll even give you a ride to your office and pick you up once your car's done. Service is their specialty or you may want to try Holland Automotive the owner Dick is very good at pinpointing problems and fixing them before they get costly.
There are several very good mechanics in this town depending on the type of auto you drive for San Mateo Area I recommend Hudson Automotive and Claremont Auto. If your like me a commuter who goes back and forth from Redwood City to San Mateo you may want to try A+ Japanese they are killer for customer service and right off the freeway.
Hey, I HAVE BEEN GOING TO TANGO'S AUTO ON 21ST AVE. NEQR PALM FOR 20 YEARS. THEY ARE THE GREATEST BUNCH AND FAMILY OWNED. THEY ALWAYS ACCOMODATE ME AND MY FAMILY, EVEN PICK UP AND DROP OFF WNE NEEDED. GOOD PRICES TOO. THEY ARE A FULL SERVICE SHOP ALSO.
I know its far from where you are, but I work in Sunnyvale and go to a place called Dayton Automotive and they are excellent mechanics.
Mikes auto care on the corner of 9th and Claremont. Good, honest, and affordable
