I am a food connoisseur, and I must say that there is no other place in the Bay Area that matches the service, quality, and the care that goes into every plate brought out of the kitchen. It almost brings a tear to my eye. I dream about the Van's the food, it is that good. There is not one thing on the menu I would not recommend, however there is one thing that everyone simply must try...the Genoese Pork chop is to die for and I get it almost everytime I go. The chop takes some time to prepare but that only gives you more time to sample their drinks and scrumptious appetizers. Will you mary me Van's???
The Van's is a peninsula party, and everyone is invited. This unpretentious restaurant prides itself on good food with a spectacular view of the Bay. The only downfall of the Van's is their bar wine list, which is marginal; the full list is better. But the bar area is a fun and relaxing place to hang out, and you'll always find a friendly face in the regulars who perch there. Good for couples, corporate dining, or private events for modest-sized groups.
My wife and I went there on a date when we were still dating for a romantic anniversary dinner. It was everything we were expecting and more. We made reservations and were immediately seated. They had a pretty good wine selection. The meals were delicious and well portioned. We were definitely full after a delicious dessert. We then enjoyed finishing our bottle of wine while watching the sun set over the peninsula. Recommend for romantic dinners, not family dining.
They really are on top of a hill. And that makes them a top dog in the area. Great views with lots of window space. But the food and price relative to quality is what makes me come back again and again. They have lots of dishes from meat, pastas, salads, to fish. And you need to check out their bar area. Lots of photos of star athletes adorn their walls especially many 49ers of years past. The staff is very friendly, too. If you don't want to drive to the city or down to San Jose, this restaurant is an excellent alternative. While it can be hard to find, the find is worth it.
Very, very good food and great service. More upscale if you are into that. Romantic, not loud and the view is excellent as well since it is up on the hill. Definitely a nice night out.
The vans is one of the best restaurnts in the bay area, Loring is a kick and a great guy. my family has been dining here for over 20 years. it is the best!!!!!
My family is quite happy to find The Van's Restaurant. The comfortable environment and service is welcoming after a hard day at work, and the food is great: interesting combinations but not too exotic. The view is beautiful, even on dark, stormy, rainy nights.
I went to the Van's with a big group and even the pickiest eaters found something to enjoy and the service was attentive and courteous.
We love to watch the sunset while having dinner at the Van's. This restaurant has great drinks, delicious food and good service. Perfect for a romantic dinner for two or a fun and lively dinner with friends.
This restaurant is one of the best in the area. Although it can be difficult to find, it's worth the interesting drive up the hill. Great views. The fish and steak are awesome and the presentation is excellent. Wine selections are very good for a local restaurant. The only issue I had was that it can be very crowded, and I suggest that take out a couple of tables to give customers more room to dine. Otherwise, it's highly recommended if you're looking for fine dining.
