San Mateo Restaurants
So, there are many to chose from, and the question is what is the best for a lunch meeting. The group is 20+ and we would like a private room. Any thoughts? and I am done with Kingfish
Well, Baloo, you're in luck -- next to San Francisco, San Mateo is a bevvy of restaurants that can accommodate small, medium and large parties. Not sure what you're "theme" or fare focus is, but there are plenty of choices I'm not a huge fan of Kingfish myself (although the downstairs bar is cool), but I do have some faves that might be worth checking out: * Acqua Pazza (Italian) * Luceti's (Italian) * Little Sheep Mongolian (er, Mongolian?) * Fish Market (duh.) Top of the Market * Astaria * Central Park Bistro * Spiedo (service questionable) * Iron Gate (surf and turf) ...or if you're in Burlingame, try Sappore or Archipelago. Beautiful!
Try Left Bank in San Mateo. We have had several small private parties there and they do a great job!
I also recommend Astaria; I have hosted an event in their private room, which the Chamber of Commerce also frequently uses for their "Good Morning San Mateo" sessions. Alicia is very good about working with customers, and the food is good as well.
Why not try entertaining at home? It's the most comfortable place to be, and you can make it really easy by picking up ready-made take out. We like to go to Pasta Pasta -- Jay and Christopher make everything fresh DAILY, and they have a great selection of salads and even tiramisu. Pop over to Draeger's (right across the street) or 750ml for awesome wine selections, and you have yourself a great dinner party without having to pay for a private room or tip.
