Picked up some food to-go the other night. Vegetable samosas, bengan pakoras for appetizers. The samosas were ok, not too greasy, but the begen pakoras were horrible. They had no flavor and were completely soggy. As a main course had chicken jalfrezi, I liked it enough, it could have been spicer but the vegetables were fresh -- but my dining companion was disapointed to find dark meat in it. Rice was blander than I was expecting as well. Overall it was disappointing. Oh, and we also got a roti--again nothing special. $35 for so-so take out, probably not worth it. I won't go back.
Ok, I am not normally one for Indian food but... Roti is the best I love the food here I have been 6 times and love the food. Its not that the food alone is a reason to come here the ambiance is wonderful, very tasteful and an inviting environment to enjoy the fabulous food that is before you… Don’t forget to "follow the Bear!"
Roti's food is wonderful and the wait staff is always very helpful and friendly. If you haven't tried Indian food yet, don't hesitate. Go to Roti. The wait staff if very helpful if you aren't sure what to order.
Roti's Chicken Korma is worth a try. It is chicken with mild spices in a butter cream sauce, garnished with almonds and cashew nuts. Another must is Tandoori Roti, fresh whole wheat bread baked in the Tandoor, very delicious. Roti has a wonderful atmosphere, and fabulous service.
I love my food seriously spicy and seriously pungent and frequent this place for that reason. You can't go wrong with the chicken tikka masala, and when I'm with big parties, we always order a couple of the appetizer samplers. All my friends say the service has gotten better here recently -- a great excuse to drop by more often. The bread basket is always piping hot and perfectly delicately spiced, a great start to an even better meal.
I've heard very good things about Roti in Burlingame and today I gave it a try for lunch. I was pleased that they have lunch platters instead of the more common buffet. The menu included monthly specials and half of them were vegetarian. I tried the Chicken Tikka Kabab lunch platter, which included basmati rice, daal, a green salad and naan. (All for $11.) The portions were large and I couldn't finish all the food I was served. The flavors were distinctive but not overpowering. Spicy hot, but not painfully hot. The chicken was fresh and moist, cooked with fresh onions and peppers. It was all delicious. My only criticism is that the restaurant is popular and busy, and the waiters seemed a little overwhelmed by it all. Don’t get me wrong… they were very friendly… they just seemed a little new at it.
I've only eaten at Roti once for lunch, but I plan on many return visits. I was expecting the typical Indian buffet lunch style, but Roti is very different. I had the chicken tikka, which was delicious - flavorful spices without being overpowering. Seems like a nice a great spot for a dinner date.
I've eaten at Roti several times and each time the service has been great and the atmosphere warm and pleasant. This is a wonderful place to go when you're beginning to try Indian food. The menu isn't too comlicated and the servers are quick to answer any questions. The prices are reasonable too. The lunch menu, in particular, is a great deal. You'll feel welcome at Roti.
This place has absolutely the best Indian food around. Not to be missed! Great ambience, nice staff and patrons, and wonderfully unique and fresh spices. Every dish is a work of art.
We've always had a great meal here w/ excellent service. Order the lamb popsicles!
This is by far the cleanest, and best Indian restaurant around. The food is spiced according to your request, mild, medium, or hot. The vegetables taste fresh without an overbearing amount of oil or salt. It's been a favorite and we go there every week! Though we wish the prices were a little bit less, it is always worth the price and with the generous helpings you can always bring home some for a lunch the next day. You will crave, and love this food! Curry Girl
They are welcoming from the minute you come in until the end of the meal. Great food.
wow, what a great way to start your morning in downtown burlingame, great food and the servers are very nice, and the resturant is very nice, but the prices are kind of uphill, but once agian its a great place to eat and i enjoy eating tehre everyday.yea like i said the prices are pretty damn high
this restauratn offers a fun, energetic feeling while offering great indian food.
This is the place that we take our friends that have never eaten Indian food. Everyone always loves it!
Roti is a great place for Indian curry. The atmosphere and service is also great. We enjoyed it as a family.
I've had lunch and dinner here, and I love it. Many of the local Indian restaurants I've been to have overpowering flavors. I found the food at Roti to be much more subtle. It's not literally across the street from the movie theaters in San Mateo, but it's a quick drive down San Mateo Ave. So we like to go to Roti for dinner and then go see a movie. Roti also has a location in San Francisco at 53 West Portal Ave.
I don't know a lot about Indian food, but this place was a nice surprise. If you've only experienced the Indian buffet, give Roti Indian Bistro a try. The lunch plates are just the right amount, with a main selection (I got the Chicken Tikka Masala), salad, and lentils. No sneeze guard and no line to deal with. Just sit down and enjoy!
