Independent Movie Theaters
I'm into independent films, but I haven't found any theaters on the peninsula that plays them, does anyone know of any?
Go South. The closest indy theaters are in Menlo Park and Palo Alto. There used to be one in Belmont, but it closed years ago. Some standbys: Guild - El Camino in Menlo Mark. Mainstream indy movies, nice old theater. Aquarius - Just off University St in downtown PA. Theater is a dump, but has interesting quirky selections. Cinearts (Palo Alto Square) - In an office park at El Camino & Oregon Expwy. Decent modern theaters, mainstream indy selections. Stanford - University St in PA. If you're a movie buff this is a must-see. Beautiful old theater, shows only classic (pre-1960) movies. Has a real organist for pre-movie numbers and silent films. Owned by one of the Packards (of Hewlitt-Packard fame), who runs it as a labor of love.
