![]() Hi all,

A free movie night showing "Arctic Tale" with hot dogs, popcorn and more for purchase. We also will have pre-movie free fun time with a bounce house, games and more. M is for Mystery Bookstore hosts author Derek Haas, who discuss and sign his novel "The Silver Bear".
Kirkus starred: "Tight, swift debut thriller ... reminiscent of The Manchurian Candidate. By telling the story from the assassin's point of view, Haas layers on novelistic texture that a film version may miss. In chilling interior passages echoing The Day of the Jackal, the 'bear' explicates the cold-blooded methods that make him a top killer. All the while, Haas stokes sympathy for his anti-hero. Lean work, with every word counting and adding up to more than most authors land in twice the space."

Great Buffet. You cannot beat it for the quality of food and price. I have had lunch there many times and I am never disappointed. Get there early for lunch or you will have to wait in line for a table.

A great place for Italian food. One of my wife's favorites, on the corner of Ralston Ave and 6th St. Anthony, the owner is a pleasure.
Don't miss it.

What I like the best is that you can pick up the stuff at their location down on Shoreway Road.

A littl above average

Town is a little above average. Nothing spectacular, but certainly not a run-of-the mill establishment. The food is tasty and filling, but expensive. This would be a good place for an appetizer and maybe a cocktail (nice wine list, too), but if you're looking for a decent meal that won't obliterate your wallet, consider Laurel Street hopping and check out Refuge for an indulgent, fresh burger or sandwich.

RE: Good Pilates studios in San Mateo?
I've actually not been there, but my neighbor swears by Purifying Pilates, on 25th Avenue. She said that the owner and her daughter are completely engaged with their clients. Private and small group classes make for focused sessions and of course results. I intend to check them out myself! In the meantime, here's the Webcard, along with my friend's rave review:

RE: Good Pilates studios in San Mateo?
Thanks for the quick reply. That's the second positive recommendation I've heard about Purifying Pilates. Looks like I should give them a try. I really need to do something about this inactive phase I've fallen into and a group session could be just the thing I need.
Maybe I'll see you down at the studio one day. I'll be the tall guy complaining about my weak back. You can't miss me :-)

RE: I have a floor question
I'd agree with Dr. Joe. The contrasting strip might be interesting, but could very well be an issue for future buyers. It does seem like matching the better floor and allowing the visible difference to appear along one line where they meet is the least objectionable option. Good luck!
Or just invest in a strategically placed area rug...problem solved :-)

Geriatric Therapist?
Does anyone know of a local/good therapist who specializes or has a lot of experience with older patients?
Thanks,
Amy
MissPasha added this comment:
RE: Geriatric Therapist?
You know, this is a really great discussion topic, because a lot of us old-school peninsulites have elder family members. I personally do not know of any therapists who care for this particular patient scope, but you may want to contact some of the local retirement or convalescent communites. They may have a great referral base for outpatient care and services. Perhaps the parks and recreation/senior centers may also be of assistance. I've attached a couple of sources below. Good luck!
