I'm looking for a broad day camp that offers activities like arts and crafts and sports (swimming, etc). I've not been happy with FC's Rec Center. I guess I'm looking for the camp I went to when I was a kid, before all the specialization.

I'm not sure this is what you're looking for, but the JCC in Foster City has wonderful summer programs for kids. I attached their webcard below. Check them out - the facilities are amazing.

I'm attaching some discussions from last year about camps in the area. Since I don't know the kids age range that you're looking for, I can recommend a few that our family has used over the years: The Peninsula YMCA camps Crystal Springs Uplands in Hillsborough has a general day camp San Mateo Parks and Rec has a wide variety of programs Coyote Point Summer Camps are good for younger kids If you've got an animal lover in your home, the Peninsula Humane Society has an excellent camp (at least they did a few years ago). Hope this helps!

At first, I just responded directly to the individual poster; but since this topic seems to have generated considerable interest, I hope it is OK to share the following: The Miller Institute for Learning with Technology, a local nonprofit, offers 2 weeks of day camps relating to technology, in mid-July, for ages 8.5 and up. These are held at Tierra Linda Middle School in San Carlos. A flier is available here: http://www.learningtech.org/summercamps08/summercamp08_flier.pd There are still openings, especially for the second week. -- Mark
