Hi, I'm looking for a good horse lover camp for my 7 year. I'm thinking about signing her up at Spring Down in Portola Valley and wanted to know if anyone has been there before. Thanks!

My 9 year old took weekly lessons at Springdown for about 8 months when she was 8 years old. She also did their spring camp for a week. She really enjoyed the lessons and I thought her teacher (Gina) was very patient and did a great job. My daughter was a little frustrated with the camp though. They put her in a group that was too advanced for her and they were expecting her to do things that were just way beyond her ability at that point.

When my boys were camp age, for several summers we sent them to a summer camp called Camp Unique, held at the Woodside Priory (Their school) had an arrangement with Springdown to instruct in horse riding. http://www.campunique.com/ If you go that route, I recall it was important to sign up early.

I know there has been some interest from time to time on this site about summer horse camps for kids and I just heard yesterday that the Moss Beach Ranch summer kids horse camp still has openings in part of July and August. My daughter went to the camp a number of summers as a beginner and intermediate rider and had a great time. It was a good, safe environment. http://www.mossbeachranch.com
