Years ago, there were many shops who would make a custom t-shirt, i.e. with text & photo provided by customer. They seem to have ceased to exist. Does anyone know where I might have the job done?

A local place that will probably yield a quick turnaround is All-Star Awards & Promotions in San Mateo. They do all sorts of imprinting, including shirts. I've attached their webcards below. Ask for John! : )

If you only need one or just a few shirts - its so easy to do yourself with your computer and iron on transfers. If you need a bunch of shirts with the same design, you can upload your design from your computer to Cafepress.com and order all the shirts you want (1 to any amount) for a good price. Their webcard is attached below.

The t-shirt transfer that you can buy at Staples or Office Depot work pretty well and are definitely the cheapest way to go if you're only doing a couple of shirts. The transfers can be full color so if you're using any photographic images they are the best budget way to go. Good luck!

There's another local duo that does imprints and other promotional items. If you don't need a next-day production, try KLP Marketing in San Carlos (webcard attached below). Ask for Karen or Heather; I personally have worked with Heather on a number of projects that have all been superb. I believe they are also offering free shipping for new customers, so be sure to check out the coupon within the webcard.
