Good, no "god" electrician
I find that elctricians behave like princes these days. I need to install some new lighting in my home. Contacted some of the electricians recommended on this site. They won't come out to my home to discuss and provide estimates, unless a commit to give them the job. One is willing to do me a big favour and come out for $59. Some want me to do the city permit work, etc. What's with that? Can anybody recommend a good, relaible electrician who does not consider himself God? I'd like this person to: * Be a good electrician (of course) * Licensed, insured, bonded, etc. * Come to my home to discuss the required work and provide quote - free of charge and commitments * Agree to take care of the permit Anything like that even exists? (sorry for the angree tone, I'm frustrated)

My personal experience is that people get good quotes from good tradesmen, and then give the work to unlicensed and/or illegal workers at half the price. It's got to be a drag doing quotes all day just to set the price for your competition! This may not explain your frustration, but it might help you understand their approach. Try Foley Electric Inc. Creative Lighting Solutions (650-286-1187)in Foster City meets your criteria. Owner, Fred Kawamoto is a really nice guy. I had him do the wiring for my kitchen remodel. Also, I'm a handyman specializing in SMALL jobs. I regulary refer clients to Fred for electrical jobs I choose to pass. He has always accomodated them and doesn't charge for estimates/consultations.
