Massage Envy Belmont/San Mateo
Anyone have a particular massage therapist they recommend at Massage Envy in Belmont (the one near Kinko's)?
Sorry never been to that one, but there's a great guy at their Redwood City location. His name is John and his back ground was a certified Physical Therapist so talk about really giving you great deep tissue massage. He knows now to manipulate your tired acking musles without causing your more pain the next day. I highly recommend him.
I've tried almost all of the therapists and think it depends upon what end result you are looking for. My favorite type of massage is a medium pressure with spot work as needed, mostly on the neck and shoulders. For a Relaxing Massage when I just want to melt onto the table, I reccomend Kimberly, Paul, Crystal, Jen. For a more therauputic approach to undo all my years of bad posture habits I like Joey, Cong, Sergio, Gail, Gaby, and Ben There are also the specialists: Steve, Sandra, Gail, Roosevelt, Myrna and Eileen. These guys are great and providing really customized treatments. There are a couple of other people that I have not yet tried, but I've always found the receptionists to be very knowledgable about hooking me up when I tell them what I need.
In all honesty, I don't think the treatment at Massage Envy is anything to write home about. In addition, the "spa" is located on El Camino Real, so you constantly hear the traffic during your session as well as the staff hoofing around up front and in the hallways. If you're going to fork out for a massage, you're better off investing in a real santuary for a REAL hour of R&R (i.e. Watercourse Way in Palo Alto). Can anyone else recommend any good experiences with Peninsula-based massage therapy/spas?
I MUCH prefer AvantGard Spa in San Carlos (http://www.avantspa.com). They have a beautiful facility, offer a variety of services, and are friendly and professional. You can book appointments online, too, which is very handy.
