What's going in next to Gator's Restaurant?
There's a lot of remodeling activity in the space next to Gator's Restaurant on B Street in downtown San Mateo. Does anyone know what new business is going into that building? I hope it's another good place to go get lunch :-)
Actually, Gator's is expanding into the new space... they'll have more seating, a bar area, and a better setup for live music. Very exciting stuff - they've already proven to be a great addition to Downtown San Mateo!
Actually there is an unmarked storefront next to the Gator expansion that has a lot of construction activity. I don't know what it is.
Unckie_Bob, if you're referring to the additional empty space south of the expanded Gator's, this is the future location of a new Italian restaurant opening later this year.

I meet the owner of the new Italian restaurnt. he said that his goal is to have a restaurant that families can come together and enjoy meals again. they are building outdoor patio, and he said they will have a full bar. fun
Just to round out this discussion, the building to the North of Gator's which is the historic Odd Fellow's building is also beginning construction on a retrofit and remodeling. The ground floor will be available retail space and the upper floor will be another "Gator" Thompson enterprise which we are very excited about. A 450 seat world class Jazz club code named Gator's Circle of Stars.
