Civil Engineers
Hello Neighbors, I'm looking for a Civil Engineer who's experienced with earthquake upgrades of older houses, preferably in San Francisco, but Peninsula is also OK. Thanks in advance, --Priti
Hello Priti, I'd be curious to hear how others have approached this work, but here's what I've been told. You start by having a structural engineer visit the site and draw up a set of plans: Here are two in the city that I know of and seemed competent: Santos & Urrutia 415 642-7722 Double D Engineering 415 551 5150 You then hire a construction contractor to do the work. Here's one that I met with: C-V Construction (CVC) 415 648-8779 Though I haven't done any work with them, they seemed knowledgeable. Here's a pretty good Chron article on retrofit http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2004/05/08/HOGMT6G4V01.DTL& hw=earthquake+retrofit&sn=006&sc=593 With a ref to this service http://www.bayarearetrofit.com/ And I saw an earlier L2M reference for http://www.peaceofmindstructural.com/ That article last week about 99.999% probability of a major CA earthquake was a bit sobering Good luck! -rich
