San Mateo has such lovely weather. I'm always on the lookout for restaurants with an outdoor patio (not just tables on the street). So, far I've found Prince of Wales and Waterfront Pizza over in Foster City. Any other suggestions?

I'm not sure this counts, but I like to get lunch to go at the Draegers Market deli counter and eat it in Central Park. There are several other good lunch places next to the Central Park, including Le Boulanger, Noah's Bagels and Sinbad's. I've attached those cards below.

Central Park Bistro (just across the street from Draegers) has outdoor seating when the weather is nice. I haven't been a big fan of their dinner food, but lunch is fine.

If you're willing to go down to Belmont, the Beli Deli has a very nice outdoor patio.

Grab a lunch from Safeway Foster City and walk across the street to the newly built, Leo J Ryan park. Hangout in the gazebo or sit on the park bench. Enjoy the sunshine.

Good idea. There's a Togo's sandwich shop in that shopping center, too.

I have THE recommendation for Foster City. There is a Chevy's in Foster City that has a large outdoor patio right on the water. A great place for a beer and some fish tacos. I know, it's a chain. But the food isn't bad and they have a full bar. And lots of outdoor tables on the water...

but if you prefer Good Chinese food, you can walk a few feet down and head over to Mr. Fongs. They're separated into two buildings, one is to-go and one is sitdown. So don't be put off when you see the little take out place. The other one is just right behind. You can hangout on the spacious deck or you can enjoy the view from inside.

If you want to actually get out ON the water, be pampered and enjoy a fabulous meal, try Elegant Lagoon Cruises. They operate private, catered cruises on board a 21' whisper-quiet electric boat on the Foster City lagoon. You can board at Leo Ryan park. Very upscale and relaxing.

Portofino Grill in Foster City is in a shopping mall, but the actual restaurant is right on the water. There's a large outdoor deck where you can dine al fresco. The food is classic Italian, with a ton of options.

Try out the Fish Market in San Mateo tucked away on South Norfolk near 92. You may have to wait for a table at the patio overlooking the water but it's worth it. It's quiet and the food is very good. Be sure to try their calamari appetizers.

The Crepevine on Burlingame Ave. has something for everyone and is great for dining with co-workers since you pay separately. Plus, there's a nice patio and streetside tables. But get there early, it gets crowded quickly.

Right downtown in a nice spot that offers a great menu along with good selection of wines and beers AND they have a perfect little patio for dining. I was just there yesterday on one of those perfect sunny days and enjoyed a great salad while sitting in the noontime sun. If downtown San Mateo is convenient, you definitely have to give this place a try. I'm a little hesitant to let the secret out because the tables are limited, but I had such an enjoyable lunch I feel I need to share the find with other. Enjoy! Just don't plan on getting any work done after lunch if you pair your salad with a glass or two of wine :-)

Here's something to look forward to. I've been watching the construction of a patio area right next to the parking garage by the downtown movie theater. I was asking one of the workers and it appears to be an outdoor patio for a new Italian restaurant opening on B Street right between 1st and 2nd. Can't wait to have another outdoor place to dine. Does anyone know anthing more about this place?
