Wendy Klein has opened a terrific new green yoga studio close to central San Mateo and the train station. I have been attending classes at the studio for the last few weeks including Bhakti Flow, Ashtanga Vinyasa and Yin/Yang. These classes have been a mix of novices (me) and advanced students, including other yoga instructors. Wendy and the other instructors focus on helping the students learn the varying practices in yoga within each student's limitations and experience. In my case, props and alternative poses are suggested due to limited flexibility and joint issues. In a very short period (3 weeks), I find that I stand taller, my shoulders and back are less cramped "from being at a keyboard" and I feel better and stronger. Nandi Yoga also has green-based yoga clothing, mats and props available for purchase at reasonable costs. This turns out to be a plus when you are a novice particularly since mats come in different thickenesses resulting in different comfort levels for each person. Lastly, they also have great kids classes. I was at the studio last night for a class which was followed by a family yoga class. The laughter and exurbance radiated through the studio.
