Direct TV experiences?
We are long time Comcast Cable tv users but the cost escalates often and is now up to close to $87. Direct TV is offering a monthly charge with even more channel section at $49.99 for the first year including DVR, HBO, etc. Have any of you had experience with Direct TV? Was your service effected in bad weather and how long were you down? If you have had to call for service, how long before a tech could come out? I've called Comcast and they have no interest in retaining us as a customer and it's quite discouraging to pay that amount in this economy.
I am very happy with Direct TV. The intro packages are attractive. When they expire you will find the cost closer to your Comcast quote. Nevertheless, I was quite happy to tell Comcast "where to go!"
Hi Judy, I have had DirecTV for many years now, and I have been completely satisfied. I, too, switched from Comcast to DirecTV because of pricing and have never looked back. I think you definitely get more bang for your buck. My DirecTV has only gone down a couple of times in the six years that I have had it, and it's usually back very quickly. Sometimes in very (and I mean very) windy weather I've had some minor interference, but it seems to resolve itself before it becomes an issue. As for customer service, they have always been responsive. One time I was having some pixelation issues and needed someone to come out. They came out promptly, and it turned out that the problem was because my tree had overgrown the dish. The technician climbed my roof and pruned the tree back for me....end of problem and no charge. I highly recommend DirecTV. Sarah
