Vinyl Solution is refreshing because it is one of the few independent record shops in San Mateo, in fact, it may be the only one. Sure, they are way understocked and the music is only somewhat in alphabetical order, but there is something irreplacable about shopping at an actual record store, something that no commercial store could replicate. Oh, and they sell Power Rangers trading cards as well.

Great for music collectors
Vinyl Solution is a great place to shop if you're an avid rock and roll memorabilia collector. In addition to their vast music collection, they sell magazines, concert t-shirts, posters, musical instruments, and variety of other specialty items. Growing up, I spent many weekend afternoons going through records and CDs, seeing what I could add to my personal collection. The staff is helpful and will special order anything that is in print.
