On the go doesn't have to equate to fast food. The other day, while pressed for time, I popped into Cafe Soulstice (inside the upper echelon Equinox Gym) and grabbed a smoothie. I wish I had hzd more time to taste some of the other great-sounding items on their uber-healthy menu, but since they are open to the public, I can go back and do just that. I'm not a member there, but it's a great alternative to skipping a meal or worse, eating some of the crap that may be cheap on the fly, but murder on your health. Do your body a favor and give it something good to eat at Cafe Soulstice.
You don't want to go here if you're a meat eater. Definitely for vegetarians only. The food was sort of bland. Not a place to take the family to sit down and eat. There was only one table but the service was good. Presentation of the food was excellent. I was starving when I left....
My husband, sister, and I first ate at Cafe Soulstice a couple of months ago after it was highly recommended. We were surprised and delighted that the food was delicious and filling! I have been there a few more times, each time trying something new. The friends that I have brought to Cafe Soulstice were also newbies to this type of cuisine and have fallen in love with the food as I have. You won't believe how divine their desserts are - better than their "cooked" cousins. It's a great feeling knowing that a delicious meal can also be completely healthy - no trans fats, no overloading on sugar, and food that is alive and brimming with all those nutrients that aren't denatured by heat.
If you wanna try something radically good and want that afternoon rush you usually get from a Red Bull of Triple Expresso, try one or two or if you like me Three of their Enery Truffles. They look like chocolet covered haystack candies and taste like heaven and they really kick up your energy level without giving you the caffine gitters. Are you guys sure their legal?? Hee hee just kidding, they really are good!
They use strange ingredients. They have a weird location inside a gym. But the food is actually very delicious and very healthy. You've got to try it. Make them part of your daily routine and you'll feel the difference.
In the constant battle to find new places to go for lunch, a few co-workers and I ended up at the Soulstice Cafe feeling a little adventurous and curious about what new options a raw vegetarian cafe might offer us. It was actually a fun and informative lunch break that really stood out from the normal lunch fare. I tried the Spicy Thai Salad which is a mix of Zucchini "noodles", red bell peppers, carrots, mint, basil, and a sesame-lime-coconut dressing tossed with some warm quinoa - a complete protein grain. Quite good - and the epitome of fresh with vibrant colors, textures and flavors. I also tried a slice of their pesto "pizza" with a gluten free crust. Not a typical pizza by any means, but once again something so fresh and healthy that it made you worry that your body might go into shock after it's normal consumption of trans-fats, refined sugars, and cholesterol laden red meat. I'm happy to report my body felt great and even avoided the after lunch carb and sugar crash from my usual diet. The Cafe Soulstice is a great way to eat healthy or just add some exciting variety into your less than ideal normal diet. They even let us sample some one the desserts called "Superfood Clusters" I was expecting it to taste awful - but it was REALLY GREAT! Who knew a no dairy, no flour, no refined sugar treat could taste good? Guilt free snacks for everyone!
Absolutely amazing vegan and raw foods. It's a lot of fun exploring the different menu options here. I had the "pasta toss", which was this concoction of quinoa seeds and fresh organic veggies, with tomatoes and olives. Not only did I get a great lunch, but I got a crash course in raw foods and healthy eating. I was even sold on a type of tea called 'kombucha' tea that helps 'colonize your digestive system.' The point of raw foods is preserving the nutrients and helping them digest better into your system. I love how genuinely helpful and informative the staff was here. I will definitely be coming back more often for their fabulously inventive concoctions like 'pizza' and those chocolate balls. They even label their desserts as guilt-free. :) The next time I crave chocolate, I'm headed straight here, located on the first floor of Equinox, with big glass windows for people-watching!
I have to admit that this was not what I was expecting. The cheerful counter staff was very knowledgeable and she explained the menu in depth, while providing us with generous samples. Everything there is raw, organic and vegan. Even the “salmon” is a vegetarian mix that actually has a salmon flavor – by the way, it was my favorite. My next favorite thing was the pesto pizza. We even tried an organic chocolate truffle that was amazing. My only light criticism is that, at first glance, you have no idea that there are substantial meals there. The counter kind of looks like a simple, healthy snack shop, but there’s a lot more to it. Even as a non-vegetarian, it was interesting to try something really different. It also felt great eating health and learning a bit about it. I’m looking forward to going back and trying some different items.
