Had a delicious breakfast this morning at the Bay Watch.
A must try are the waffles covered in whip cream.

OK, so this is one of my favorite lunch spots, but let me tell you the Cobb Salad was good and fillling, even when split with my partner. Try it sometime.
I'm here regularly for breakfast. They have a healthy egg white and turkey wrap with salsa and fresh fruit that helps me start out the morning with a healthy gut full of food. :-) Ester and the whole staff are friendly and attentive and always make you feel at home. Glad to have a dependable breakfast spot right here in San Mateo. They never disappoint.

This place has okay food and long lines. Not worth the wait for me. San Mateo definately needs better breakfast restaurants. I do like the sell-serve coffee and the service is usually good. My boyfriend likes the food better than I do and especially enjoys the homemade hot sauce they'll serve you if you ask for it.
when the name changed, i thought the place changed. i thought that the management would be so so. btu when i went in, i realized nothing changed. everything is still great!
even if the name changed, the location, the poeople, and the food will always stayu the same. no matter what you order, you cant go wrong. its so good it makes you want breakfast for breakfast lunch, and dinner!
What use to be known as First watch is now Bay Watch. This place has been around a long time, and is always full of customers. The skillet is my favorite thing on the menu. It does get busy sat & sun mornings. Put your name in have a free cup of coffee and you can wait for a table. Service is good, many people have been working there forever.
It serves foods you typically find at other family-style restaurants, like Denny's, Applebee's, etc. It is clean and the food is decent. What impressed me most was not its food, but its owner. I happened to be greeted by her when I dined there. And from the brief conversation, I could see she was really trying hard to give every customer a good experience. It makes a big difference to know that if you have a problem, you can talk to someone who cares.
I'd been going to Bay Watch since it was First Watch for many years and so I am happy that most of the menu is the same. Delicious, fast, and a variety of options. My only complaint is that, one time, the hostess was on her cell phone with her back turned toward me and completely ignored me and my family while I stood at the counter. I was waiting there forever and then when she seated us at a table, she didn't give us any menus. Isn't that the main job as a hostess. I didn't feel welcome at all.
I've been eating there since 2000 when it was First Watch and the food has always been healthy with quick friendly service. The food isn't greasy like Denny's or most other breakfast places. Great location in downtown San Mateo on the corner of 2nd/Ellsworth. Plus the prices are reasonable and the waiting list moves FAST even on Sunday mornings....
Just as good as its old days as First Watch, still the wait but it is worth it!!!!
Service is great and it is a pleasant place for families. If only the food were better. It has that safe presentation that is like a Denny's but with better ingredients. Many will like that but it strikes me as corporate food preparation.
Alana's in Burlingame for instance has food that seems real.
The friendliest staff you will ever meet! Formerly First Watch, this is the perfect place to start your day off right! The menu has a delicious variety of breakfast and lunch options. The best breakfast place in town!

The menu is yummy!! You can take your business meetings and out of town guest to taste their great waffles or one of their faboulous appetizers. Their sandwiches with that cucumber and tomato vinagrete
are mouth watering.
Fantastic place for breakfast....make sure you have quarters ready for the parking meters!
My kids love this place. They always want to go here for the week-ends for breakfast. There is usually something for everyone. Favorites...Heuvos Rancheros, Triathlete, Banana Crunch Pancakes, and kids' Grilled Cheese.
This was our favorite breakfast place even before we had kids! The service is fast, the food is cheap and always delicious. Can't go wrong bringing the whole family.
I dropped in with a few coworkers for lunch. The service was friendly, the food was very quick to be served, and it was really tasty. I recommend the Breakfast Scramble. The hollandaise sauce was fantastic! They also have an assortment of delicious pancakes, and massive salads. Go check it out! We're definitely coming back.
I had a lunch with my friend, service was fast, server was kind and very professional, food was so delicious.
