I think the concept is good but, as others have noted, there are some problems in implementation. The place is too small and not easy to navigate/ reach things with kids. And I can't get over the name being just plain silly.
This is a really fun shop! Fresh, tasty frozen yogurt is a fabulous post-workout or anytime snack, and you can choose from the buffet of toppings inclusive of cookie and candy bar chunks, traditional sundae toppings, or fresh fruit like mandarin oranges, mango, and kiwi. The downside is that the cozy space gets somewhat cramped (not much room for strollers). Also, as it is on the pricey side (cost per weight), I wouldn't recommend it as a daily treat, but a once-a-week visit is something really to look forwad to. I hope they consider opening a little earlier in the day, as this would be a terrific choice for a healthy breakfast on-the-go.
I've been to this shop six times since it opened and I have never been unsatisfied. Definately get the yogurts labeled as tangy if you want the full yogurtouille effect or get the classic chocolate or vanilla if your in the mood for a regular flavor. I also like that the flavors change often and they have many unique tastes in their arsenal at all times. For instance today they had tangy lychee in the place where the tangy guava was last week, so it is always a suprise when you walk in. All the yogurts are also non-fat which eliminates a bit of the guilt factor. This shop is independent so by going here you are supporting a local buisness and not a mass media chain corperation
I fell in love with this place at the moment i crossed their door for the first time. This is my fifth time and i have not get bored with the flavors or the toppings. I took my friends that have a really restricted diet and they loved Yogurouille as well. I recommended 100% Just be open minded and create your own sunday.
The bright and friendly environment that yogurtouille provides is enough to brighten anyones day. There is a wide variety of flavors to choose from and the pricing is based on weight, so you can never have too little to pay for this wonderful treat. I would definately reccomend the boisenberry or the mango yogurt; they are simply amazing. The toppings are extravagant and extensive as well, which is great for those of us who enjoy variety. Best of all, this is an independent shop. It is hard to believe that a shop with this much life and so much potential can be the only one, but it is true. This is definately the one shop in all of San Mateo that I would reccomend that everyone try.
I've never eaten yogurt that I have been impressed with more, especially in such a hip environment. I must agree that the cashier was in a bit of a daze, however he snapped out of it almost immediately when I stepped up to buy my frozen treat. Their frequent buyer card is super cool, and with such a wide variety of flavors, I can't see why anyone could complain.
I just returned from Yogurtouille, where I enjoyed a wonderful guava tart frozen yogurt topped with gummy bears... it was wonderful. I don't understand why anyone would call this establishment unclean, because it was certainly very neat and tidy and very inviting. Since the yogurt is self serve, the process of buying the yogurt is much quicker and easier than dealing with another person who might get your order wrong. I would definately reccomend this store to any yogurt lover, or simply any yogurt eater in general.
This is old-skool frozen yogurt, the kind that still tastes like yogurt, and was popular in the '70s before the bland creamy stuff took over. Get anything with the word "tart" in it, which is the good stuff. The plain is my favorite, but they have some flavored options too. The toppings are fresh and varied (the blueberries are great). They even have a frequent eater program, that gives you 10% off of your third, 20% off your 6th, and 50% off your ninth yogurt. They should probably give you a free scale after that, cuz this stuff is _goood_. BTW, I just don't get the other reviewers who are 'confused' by this place . This is self serve , people! Grab a cup, add yogurt, add toppings, put the cup on the scale in front of the adolescent cashier, smack them once to get their attention, and voila! , you're done. Mmmm. Going to get some right now...
TOO Confusing... is it sanitary? When you walk in you have no idea what you are supposed to do. In the middle of the place there are 2 girls behind the registar. They are either dazing into space or ringing up customers. As I waited for their "journey" to end I gave up and asked a customer how to order, since the signage was pretty bad and it was TOO CONGESTED in front of the signs that were there. I asked someone to see who they aquired a taste cup from. She told me she got one from the cashier. When I requested a taster cup the cashier (who had them less than 3 inches infront of her) said "sure" but she'd didn't hand one over. Instead I ended up reaching across the counter to get one. How sanitary is this place?? You get your own serving container off a SELF SERVE SHELF, fill it up yourself with yogurt and topping then the cashier weighs it and tells you the price. Right next to the containers, right there out in the open, are waffle bowls!!! Not wrapped, not in a storage case...WHO'S TOUCHED THEM... WHO HAS SNEEZED ON THEM.... what child who just came from the park grabbed them before their mom put them back on the shelf then someone else pick it to put in their bowl. I saw two kids playing with them in less than 15 minutes!
A mother bringing in toddlers is a disaster here. Mother needs to make the yogurt ice cream herself - imagine having 2 small children that can't reach or make their own yogurt ice cream. The flavors are no distinct flavors. Music way too loud, AC too cold for eating ice cream. Bad traffic flow in making the ice cream treat.
A very cute idea, to serve and mix your own frozen yogurt and pay by weight. They have great flavors and I like the fact that they stay open later than most dessert locations in San Mateo. Definitely a good place to check out.
