We were happy to experience Acqua Pazza and have gone back few times already!! The atmosphere is warm and welcoming and the team knows how to take care of their customers. The selections we tried were all great! Among our favorites are "zuppa fagioli e cozze", " parmigiana di melanzane ", "linguine bella napoli" and, if you keep room for dessert, try the "zabaglione with a shot of espresso coffee", you will add a special treat at the end of your meal... Enjoy!
I just finished a great lunch at Acqua Pazza down on the corner of Ellsworth and 3rd Ave. Great location, good food, we really enjoyed it. Enzo, the owner is a delightful person. A great place to meet for a business lunch or casual. I ran into another associate there, the place was hopping. Ray
I have to say that I was cautious when another Italian restaurant opened in downtown San Mateo, but I have to say I was very pleasantly surprised. the food is wonderful, the prices are more than fair and the staff is really Italian, go figure... I am looking forward to going back!!!
I've had lunch there a few times and love the place. They did a great job on the decor. It has a refreshingly airy feel with plenty of space between tables. So far, my fav lunch dish is the grilled salmon salad, and the calamari is a must! I look forward to trying out more traditional Napolitano fare. My questions for the three brothers who opened Acqua Pazza Bravo ragazzi, ma che voule dire il nome "crazy water"?
Very exciting new place on 3rd St. The owners are Italian and were all very accomodating. We held a company meeting upstairs in their private room. All of our expectations were satisfied, the food was good, and the service was attentive and professional. We would definitely return for our next meeting.
Finally a really good Italian restaurant in the Bay Area!!!!!!!!!!!! I had dinner with my friend from Europe and they were really impressed!! We really enjoyed these dishes: eggplant parmiggiana, fried calamari with zucchini and prawns, lasagna, and especially the amazing Branzino acquapazza the best fish I have had in my life!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We love the food, we love the energy and beautiful Mediterranean look. Thank you for a wonderful meal
Drove all the way from Mountain View to discover this new Italian restaurant in downtown San Mateo! Napolitan food to be more precise! Perfect restaurant for a great dinner! Awesome food and friendly staff! Will come back for sure with more friends. It's worth the drive ;-)
As a rule, I avoid new restaurants to give them time to get into their groove before trying them out the first time. But I was invited to lunch at Acqua Pazza and was pleasantly surprised. The service was excellent. The food came out right away and was fresh and hot. Our waiter was attentive but not in the way. It's probably not meaningful to judge the food on one lunch, but I had an excellent chicken panini with mozzarella and spinach. The side salad was crisp and tasty with a light dressing. Overall, I say they're ready for prime time and our community should check them out and give them our support.
So I had heard a lot about "the new Italian" place in downtown San Mateo. Honestly, I nearly blew it off due to the fact that it's one of several in a city block. However, a cat's gotta eat, so off I went to enjoy dinner before Music in The Park last Thursday night. With the exception of the, er, interesting choice and too-loud volume of their music selection, Acqua Pazza is so far making friends with San Mateo. The staff encourages a slow-it-down, Euro-style approach to dining. And the price is right -- their modestly-priced menu makes me feel that I've been taken advantage of at other area establishments (now I'm not mentioning any names, but the one near Trag's Market immediately comes to mind). While the caprese panini was nothing earth-shattering, it provided a nice dinner that set up for a post-meal cabernet/cheese fest at the park. Suprisingly, the portions are a hair small, but given that we're a society of maximus consumus, AcquaPazza may be able to retrain us. As for restraint, if you can pass on the light and tasty tiramisu, well, good luck with that. Molto bene!
