We were so happy to discover this place. The food is delicious and the owner and people who work there are great. We always get take-out, but the place is hopping on a Friday or Saturday night.
A long time fan of this place. Check out the kabobs! The hummus, the desserts...it's all great!
I just love this restuarant! Everything is deliciious and the prices are very reasonable. Try the Lamb Kebob Platter, Falafel Platter. Everything is fresh -- the Pita Bread is the best.
Bob, the owner, is a great guy.!
I've dined at Sinbad's a few times now, and it's by far the best Mediterranean food I've had. The kebabs are fantastic, and the people I've gone with love the food, too. Reasonably priced for what you get, and the service has been very good. You get the ocassional wait during busy days, but I always find myself wanting to come back. The owners are very nice, too. This family owned restaurant is highly recommended.
Sinbad's is a great local find. Just watch their video and you know this place is the real thing. Home-made food from family recopies, served by people who care. Oh, and the food is really, really good, too. I had the chicken kabobs and hummus – the usual fare – and it was really good and quite affordable. They used to have a grocery section but they changed the layout and now they’re a big restaurant with food to go.
Haven't been here for quite a while and was surprised to find that it's only a restaurant now. But I think it's better this way, they have a lot more seating. They told us that they have entertainment in the evenings so we're going to have to try it out soon. Their food is still good if not better and the people are really nice.
I found Sinbads resturant last year and have not been able to stop eating at this fantastic place. If my wife would allow me to eat there every night I would. I always have a great meal the food is so fresh and healthy. The owner of Sinbad's goes out of his way to
help you to pick out their wonderful dishes. I'm a customer for life!
This has become our office's newest FAV restaurant. The food is comfort, home cooked food and the woman at the cash register is always so patient and sweet. Just the BEST.
I went to Sinbad not knowing what to expect. Having never eaten Mediterranean cuisine, Sinbad was a wonderful experience for me. Their food was wonderful and not spicy at all. I had the salmon kabobs, which were juicy and well seasoned. The pita bread and hummus is also very good, and served fresh from the oven. Later in the evening they have music and dancing.
Olives, tomato and feta and an abundance of greens with a great vinaigrette dressing that I get on the side. Add a kabob of your choice and it's a healthy and filling meal. It's so big I usually end of taking half to go so I have a second meal later. The hot dishes always look so good but I tend to stick to the salads for now as I watch my weight. You can't go wrong with the great variety of food here. And it's all so fresh and healthy. Before noon you can see the place buzzing as they prepare that day's dishes and bring them out one by one as soon as they are ready, just in time for the lunch rush.
I've only been here for lunch and haven't been lucky enough to come at night to watch the belly dancers. I love coming here for lunch because dining here is an experience. The food displays (rotating meat) are drool-inducing, the servers fast and friendly, and the decor is fabulous. I love the decor and think it's a cheerfully great place to grab lunch. Portion sizes are huge and the food is so fresh and good. The falafel and shawerma platters are great. I've never had hummus this good either! I will definitely be coming here more often.
Mediterranean food from a Lebanese perspective. Family run, the homemade dishes are fresh and delicious. If you choose carefully, there are many very healthy dishes that will fill you up for not too much cash. Check out their Webcard – it includes a video where you can meet the owners, see the food and watch a belly dancer for 1.5 seconds! Sinbad’s is a clear case of support your local business because we want to keep them around!
Im a big fan of Sinbad for my lunch hour feeding. I have been going there since it was a grocery store and restaurant., heck even back in the days when it was just a deli/grocery. The best thing about sinbad is you can take anyone from any culture and they will most likely enjoy it as it has a flavor for all...
The food is fresh and flavorful, the staff is friendly and accommodating, and the nighttime live music and belly dancing on the weekends are great atmosphere enhancers. I'm amazed it took me so long to discover this San Mateo gem. When you stop in you'll often hear one of the many regular customers chatting with the owners. It’s a great local family run restaurant that I feel good about supporting. It really feels like it has a soul and it's a welcome change of pace from the plethora of pizza, burrito and sushi restaurants in town.
I came here during lunch and had one of their wraps, it was good. My coworkers ordered the plates and I got jealous, wishing I had ordered that instead. The lamb I had was really tasty and the veggies that were mixed in was real fresh. The food came quickly and that's a good thing, because we were at lunch.
I really like the decor, very Mediterranean. The copper paint and paintings on the walls made it real exotic. I can only imagine this place at night. I also saw some hookas on display, I wonder if you could do those? I'll definitely try this place again.
The food in the gallery is making me really hungry.
I had walked by this place several times before, but had yet to eat there...until today. It was a pleasant surprise when I walked in and found a good selection of falafel sandwiches and meats-over-rice dishes. The food was rich, filling, and (if you haven't had the opportunity to try Mediterranean yet) unique. Just about everything was under 10 bucks too. Give it a try!
I am not a big fan of falafels and humus but I liked the Salmon Kabob and salad I ordered at Sinbad. The salmon is fresh and chunky, with the right tenderness. The salad consisted of green leafs and sliced tomatos. On top of that the pita bread was great. Yummm.
I've been working in San Mateo for a while now, so how is it I just now found this place? It's not like they don't have a prominent location on 4th. I just never really took notice. Well, now I will be a regular customer. The chicken kabob platter was succulent, healthy and totally delicious. I tried some of the salmon a friend ordered, and that's what I'm having next time. The service was quick and friendly, and I like the atmosphere. Sinbads is a welcome addition to my list of great San Mateo lunch destinations.
I am not a big fan of Mediterranean food except for Gyros and pita breads. I had a hard time finding the right stuff to order here. I wish they have a menu posted online. But I do like the atmosphere of the restaurant. It is very roomy. You don't have to bump elbow with someone. You can pretty much select your seating. The wall deco is great.
The shawerma combo platter is amazing! I was especially hungry one day and ordered the lamb AND chicken platter. Juicy chicken sliced off a roasting spit, alongside another mountain of lamb. The hummus was mild but still tasty; it also came with tabouli which looks like a parsley salad with tomatos and onions. I tried eating it with the pita bread, but my hunger overcame me. Instead, I just ate straight from the platter, mixing the hummus and tabouli with the powerful hot sauce, and pairing it with the chunks of sliced meat. Sinbad's is a well-decorated and spacious restaurant. Of course, my male co-workers noted that they have belly dancers on Friday nights for entertainment. Delicious and delightful, I suppose! The cashier was great and explained the highlights of their dishes, and the other servers quickly cleared our plates when we were done. A very fulfilling experience!
I work around the corner from Sinbad's, which means I have a lot of restaurant choices at lunch, BUT I often end up at Sinbad's. The food is incredibly fresh, the staff is friendly and competent and the atmosphere is great.
The food at Sinbad's is very good. My husband especially, who is from Jordan, loves their atmosphere and food. Very fun and festive, especially on Friday nights when they feature a belly dancer! Lots of menu choices and good service. We have been there about 3-4 times since we moved to San Mateo this past summer, and we will be going back again and again!
The food is absolutely delicious! People are friendly. Nice to place for a sit down lunch. And their daily specials are fantastic.
I can't say I'm a connoisseur of Middle Eastern food, but I have never had a bad meal here, in fact they have all been excellent. I often go just to try the daily special. The only drawback? I find their prices a little high for the kind of fare.
Interesting, full flavored food. Nice people and reasonable service. Been there only for lunch.
