This is my local place to go when I want a delicious spicy red snapper taco and a chicken tostada. I may be in a rut because this is always what I order but it fits the bill perfectly. Get fresh tasting food prepared to order. Quick, reasonably priced, filling and healthier than a fast food burger and fries. And I can sneak a few chips and a nice selection of fresh salsas to take way with me. Who could ask for more?
I used to get burritos here until the construction started on the "new" theater. The parking was so bad I got out of the habit of eating there. Yesterday I went in and was pleasantly surprised. The whole operation seems smoother and definitely cleaner. I had a carnitas (pork) burrito and the meat wass very tasty. Looks like I will start making this a habit again!
I'm not a big Mexican food fan, so I was not expecting anything great about Tres Amigos since it's a Mexican semi-fast food restaurant. However, I was very surprised and satisfied with the quality of their food, the prices, the speed in which the food was delivered, and the variety. Their fish tacos, burritos, and regular tacos were very good. The fajitas were also exceptional. If you're looking for a quick meal, better quality than fast food Mexican with a splash of authentic Mexican cooking, try out Tres Amigos.
I must have eaten at TA a thousand times, over the years. Ten years at the San Mateo Times, and probably ate there every other week, anyway. There's 250, right there. Best, fresh food, great service, and that green sauce is the best I've ever found and I eat in the Mission regularly. Can't do better on the Peninsula than Tres Amigos.
I went there for the first time earlier this week and was very surprised at the quality of their food and the presentation, something you wouldn't expect in what appeared to be a fast food mexican style restaurant. The service was very good and if you go there try the Fish Tacos, there some of the best I've had...not fishy at all and the portions are a very good value. I would highly recommend it for fast, inexpensive lunch.
Had a great Santa Fa Salad and Supernachos, both were good size portion and reasonable prices. Gotta try it for a quick lunch.
There are a lot of taquerias on B Street in San Mateo. My favorite is Tres Amigos. The service is fast and friendly. And the food is very good for the price. I started by eating burritos. Then I moved on to the enchiladas. Now I’m into the ceviche. The food will not change your life, but if you’re in the neighborhood and you have a craving for Mexican food, stop in. My only complaint is the seats at Tres Amigos are a little uncomfortable. They’ve something you would find at an amusement park food court. BTW: they are one of the few places I know of that has RC Cola on tap. Cola lovers know that this is the best there is ;-) Finally, this restaurant is VERY close to the theaters downtown. Plan ahead and make it a meal and a movie.
I love the salsa bar. Every time I come here, I go crazy at the salsa bar, mixing and matching different salsas so I can try new variations on flavors. My favorite here is the carne asada burrito, no rice, with pinto beans! When I miss a workout at the gym, I settle for the chicken salad, which has a great dressing. I could eat Mexican food every day of my life, especially here. Yum.
First time I came to this place was about 12 years ago, what can I say 'till this day the food is still geat and fresh. Allway friendly staff.
I loved the food. And so much of it. I would definitely recommend Tres Amigos to anyone looking for good authentic Mexican food. Only drawback was the seating. Only fixed chairs not well suited to large people.
Who knew chicken Caesar salads were considered Mexican food? Tres Amigos makes an awesome chicken caesar salad with this unique spicy salsa-like dressing. There is tons of wonderful chicken tossed on top of a fresh romaine lettuce salad, compete with tomatoes, red bell peppers, and onions. I used to think their burritos and enchiladas were good but now, I am only going to eat the chicken caesar salad from now on. Nice work!
When you want your food quick, Tres Amigos is the spot. Normally, at other places, it takes around 10-15 mins (ish) to have your food prepared for you, but here, it's much quicker. The customer service is...ok, at best. The people who work there are there just to take your order, nothing more or less. If you want small talk, or a smile, go somewhere else.
The atmosphere is cafeteria style and outdated, but the burritos are huge and delicious. The food is very fresh and the chips bar has yummy condiments.
You are not always greeted with a smile, but the food is delicious and inexpensive. The chips and salsa bar is also quite good.
My wife and I always love to go here when we visit from out of town, and now that we are living here it will a mainstay, thier food is great, the service friendly and the prices are perfect. Perfect for the whole family.
This is a fun restuarent that you can bring the entire family too. We love the food.
We visit Tres Amigos everytime we go to the movies. It is located right across the street from the Century Theaters in San Mateo.
Tres Amigos has great food at great prices. Never a disappointment.
This placce has good service, great prices and friendly staff. I as part of a group and we all ordered different orders to share. Everything was great!!!! Very highly recommended.
my favorite part is they have the best wet burrito ive ever had! And whenever i try something new its always above standerds
The tacos and burritos are consistantly yummy. Watch the sour cream...
This is a great place to enjoy some great Mexican food. Everything is made to order right in front of you--I always like to see my meals prepared. The salsas are great and they have some spiciness to them. Highly recommended.
Decent food and a great big, laid-back seating area that's perfect for kids. There are 2 TV's that are usually playing a sports game and a chips and salsa bar for you to snack on while waiting for your food.
Food always tastes great and the staff is friendly. When I'm hankerin for some late night Mexican food, Tres Amigos is always there to satisfy my craving.
I love their carnitas! And the staff is supernice - one guy ran after me to hand me the bathroom key because I didn't know they had a key for it and was standing in front of the bathroom befuddled at the locked door. Bygones. Love the open seating area. Love it.
I love this place! The burritos are good. Even the baby burrito con carne asada can satisfy me, and I'm not a small girl! The chips are made fresh from corn tortillas, and the salsa is chunky, much better than that bland stuff served at Pancho Villa's just down the street IMHO. And get this...they open at 9:30AM!! Yes, you, too can eat burritos for breakfast.
