This is a great place to meet up with friends after your work day ends or before or after dinner plans. They also do a great job of highlighting local artists by hanging their artwork on the walls and offering it for sale. There's currently (July - Sept) a great show of artwork that consists of sculptural panels combining found objects with carved and painted elements. The result is a fresh and contemporary collection of artwork to ponder and enjoy. Do yourself a favor and check it out.
This is a great place for a glass (or two or three) of wine and it's all wrapped up in a great ambience. The staff is so friendly and always willing to help guide you with great suggestions, sharing their passion and knowledge of the wines they carry. The place has such a great vibe and is so conducive to friendly conversation you'll find yourself mingling with your neighbors even if you're the shy type. It just immediately puts you in the frame of mind to have a good time. That's why I keep going back.
I went to this place for the first time last Friday night, and we had a wonderful time! The self-serve machine is dangerously fun, and we had to monitor our consumption of all the delicious wine choices. We shared a cheese place, a tasty trio of nice cheeses, almonds, and crackers. It was the perfect-size fare for our pre-dinner appetizer. The service was both laid back and professional; the staff seems to really enjoy working there and made some terrific recommendations of wines to try. The decor is simple and I guess the art (currently a colorful grouping) changes from time to time. The only drawback about this place is that the acoustics seemed to amplify the relatively small crowd, but the energy is still fun. Nice place!
This cozy-yet-hip wine lounge changes up their wines weekly, so you always get something new. The self-serve system allows for trying different varietals and regions -- if you find a favorite, a full glass awaits! And if you don't, you're also not stuck with it. Uber-friendly staff, nice cheese plates, great music to swill by. The only bummer? Not open on Mondays.
A friend suggested we meet up here for a pre-dinner glass of wine and socializing the other night. This place is fantastic. A beautiful low key interior with nice art on the walls and seating at the bar or at low tables and chairs just beyond the retail wine selections. Friendly and knowledgable staff that make you feel welcome and are happy to make recommendations from the nice range of wines they have for tasting. All in all a great place to relax and visit. Highly recommended.
Forget Napa -- 750ml has it all: a perfect fusion of retail and olfactory exploration, everyone from the novice to the self-annointed juice snob will appreciate the viticultural adventure within. Outstanding price points and well-chosen selection guarantees a find that will impress all pocketbooks and palates. The wines change weekly, and the regulars and staff keep things fun and flirty. Blind tastings keep even the most prolific noses challenged. 750ml is a refreshing and chic addition -- and just what the Peninsula ordered.
Instead of taking bottles of wine or other host/hostess gifts to parties over the holidays, I purchased several of the wine cards for tasting at 750 ml. Our friends really liked them and it gave us an excuse to get together with them at a later date to meet at 750 ml. It's fun to stop in and chat with the owner as well as try small tastes of a great variety of wines.
My husband and I stopped in here prior to dinner and had a great time sampling wines using their pouring machine. The staff was very knowledgeable. We hope to come back with friends.
This is a small, quaint wine bar in downtown san mateo. The staff is friendly, and can help you choose wines that will fit your palette. They have an actually wine bar where you can talk with someone one on one or they have a self serve section. It is comfortbale, great art, and all in all a relaxed fun place to go any night of the week.
Great place to decompress after the workday and have a glass or two (or three) of wine. This place also is set up to dispense small tastes, or a half glass so you can try a variety of wine without consuming too much and learn from the very personable owner and staff about their favorites and learn more about wines in the process. It's a very quite and calm atmosphere in the early evenings after work (that's when I'm usually there) which is a great transition after a hectic day. It's become a weekly habit of mine to stop in.
750ml is better than shopping for shoes. The barstool always fits and the wine is always the right color. The folks that work there know exactly what to offer me, and they make me feel right at home. I can't seem to leave without buying a few pairs of wines... and I don't mind sharing them with my friends!
Great wine selection, atmosphere, music, the service is very attentive and knowledgeable; I recommend trying the cheese and charcuterie plates and pair them with wine (they offer 1 Oz tastes of alot of wines). Most of their selection is small, boutique California labels. A refreshing taste of sophistication in San Mateo!
Get place to enjoy a glass of wine along with a cheese plate or olives after work. Nice atmosphere combined with a great selection of wines to sample by the sip or glass and a friendly staff that can answer all your wine related questions. It’s a very civilized way to conclude the workday. Highly recommended. You should definitely check them out.
It's so nice to have a place like this in San Mateo. Low-key, not noisy like a bar. Great wines! It's fun to get a card and use the machines. The owners are personable.
750ml is an incredible find in downtown San Mateo. They have those cool "self serve" wine machines to do wine tastings. And the two owners really know their wines. It's a cross between a tasting room and a lounge and a wine shop - with some tasty nibbles too! I was impressed with the range of wines available. New world stuff, plus lots of California. Definitely on my list of places to go at least once a week.
This is a really great place for a glass or three of wine. In addition to a nice selection of sparking, whites, and reds at the bar, they have a fun self-serve machine that dispenses tastes of about a dozen and a half reds. They hit all the price points from $2 to more than $6 for a taste. The folks who work there are really nice and friendly, too. They also have have bottled wine and liquor for sale. The selection is pretty good, and the prices aren't too bad - more than a discount store, but less than some premium wine shops.
