Great Buffet. You cannot beat it for the quality of food and price. I have had lunch there many times and I am never disappointed. Get there early for lunch or you will have to wait in line for a table.
I love going to this place for lunch when I'm in a hurry. The food is good, the sauces are tasty, and the waiters don't try and upsell you. This is a hands on serve yourself type of place. If you like Indian food (which until now wasn't really ever my first choice) this is a non-stressful place to go. Did I also mention it their pricing won't shock your wallet? Try their chicken dishes with the lemon rice yummy.
I'm not a huge fan of Indian food so I was skeptical about an Indian BUFFET restaurant. However, I was pleasantly surprised when I ate at Bombay Garden. While the quality is not as good as your regular Indian restaurant food, the value is exceptional. I can't remember the dishes, but the chicken was the best of the selection. My lunch also included some lamb, the curry wasn't overwhelming, and there were about 8 or 9 other items to choose from. The restaurant was crowded for a lunch hour so the locals and workers in the area must know a value when they see it. Service was excellent, too. I was in and out of the restaurant in 40 minutes. If you're looking for great Indian food, go to Roti. If you want a good value for your money, a quick meal, and good Indian food, go to Bombay Garden.
With good friendly service, a casual dining experience and reasonable prices, Bombay Gardens delivers an wonderful selection of excellent Indian cuisine. Veggie-lovers won't be disappointed with the results as their paneer (cheese) dishes make your taste buds dance. This is a Foster City restaurant not to be missed!
I stay away from most "Asian-fusion" type buffets because they're too random and the quality is often low. Bombay Garden is a surprising hit with my co-workers and I because the food is consistently good! I have never been disappointed with a meal here. Even if you unfamiliar with Indian cuisine, or you can't really tell what you're eating (Unidentifiable Food Object = UFO), you are pretty much guaranteed to like it. The different flavors and spices are always delicious and fresh. The service is also off the hook, especially for a buffet. They also have the best naan here (the flat bread thing) that you can pair with the foods and scoop up the sauces with. Delish and priced well too! A bit crowded to navigate around but just grab a big plate and make yourself comfortable.
I recommend the weekday lunch buffet for great food and variety. Sometimes it can get crowded at mid-day so get there before noon if you want to beat the crowd. The dinner prices are a little high, so I usually stick to lunch which is quite reasonable.
My family loves Bombay Garden! We go to the lunch buffet, open 7 days a week. The food is always fresh and flavorful and they have a large selection.
By far the best Indian food in San Mateo. Great lunch buffet and great dinner. Reasonably priced.
like food? indian food? food you love? love food? want to taste the authenticity!!!! yay! bombay gardens is the place to go! come for great food, great people, adn great times! come celebrate!
My wife and I now live in San Jose and Bombay Garden is good enough to make us drive an hour. Friendly fast and fantastic. Our standing order is Chicken Tikka Masala, Tandoori Chicken, Aloo Gobhi and all the extras.
I came here occasionally, maybe once a month, when I wanted to something different for my palete. The selection wasn't as wide as some of the better Indian Restaurants in the East Bay. The food was ok but unimpressive. I came here mostly for the indian flavor, the nam bread and the excellent service I got. By the way if you get a chance to go to Berkeley, try Chaat's Cafe (1902 University Avenue), or Vik's Chaat Corner (726 Allston Way, Berkeley). If you go to Fremont, try Bombay Garden (I assume it is the same owner) at 5995 Mowry Ave.
I stay away from buffets unless they're located on the Las Vegas strip. After working downtown for 6 months, I finally caved in and decided to try this "popular" Indian buffet joint. I'm in love! Everything is wonderful here. Perfectly spiced meats, light salad, mac salad, curry, rice pilaf, barbequed chicken, cauliflower and veggies (spicy!), a veggie soup, and a ton of stuff I didn't even get to try because I was stuffed by the time I finished my first plate overflowing with food. I even had dessert because they offered my favorite ice cream flavor -- VANILLA! Delicious. I liked eating here despite the claustrophobic frenetic energy of the buffet line because of the colorful decor and cushy chairs. I highly recommend giving this place a shot even if you're not a huge Indian food or buffet line fan. It'll change your life!
I don't know what is the big deal is about Bombay Garden because none of the food impresses me. I've been to a number of Indian restaurants in the bay area and I don't remember if anything here stands out. A good place for a quick lunch but there is nothing memorable. I do like the service.
Am so glad these guys are here - they do really well at lunch, nice buffet... but I really like to go for dinner when you can get the whole menu... and the place is definitely kid friendly.
The food they had was good, I had two plateful of food and I was okay. It was flavorful and light. I particularly liked the chicken majaraja, the lamb curry was good too. I'll definitely try it again.
this restaurant is really a good one. they offer lunch buffet for a very competetive price. for about $8 you will get a lot of stuff.
i like the chicken tikka masala (you will definetely like this if you like the spicey indian food) and the biriyani stuff. This is one of my favourite indian cuisine in san mateo that i'll recommend.
bombay garden is the 800lb gorilla in the competitive sport of indian buffet restaurants in san mateo. we have tried all other indian buffets downtown, but nobody else offers the most complete package.
tandoori chicken, lamb curry, dips and sauces, ice cream, and sugar balls (can't remember the real name). some other restaurants may offer one or two dishes better, but they can't compare to bombay garden's solid lineup.
and to top it all off, the staff is fast and friendly!
I have been going there for a while now, the Bombay Masala is a great spicy dish!
I really like the indian bread here. Hot and fresh. You can eat as many as you want. Good service too. good food with good price.
