Weekend Interpreters or “TWIG’s” create a more meaningful and memorable experience for visitors by interpreting the Museum’s wildlife collection, responding to visitor inquiries, and presenting live animals to the public. Great opportunity to speak with a wide variety of people, learn about our local wildlife and ecology, share your love of nature, and inspire people to care for our earth wisely. Required commitment: ONE YEAR; 2 two-hour shifts per month, primarily on Saturdays or Sundays. Follow a regular schedule, or sign up month by month. Teens (13-15) must volunteer with a parent; teens (16-17) must volunteer with a parent to handle animals. If you are interested in becoming a TWIG, you can start shadowing current volunteers over the summer, and then attend the next scheduled Wildlife and Nature Interpretation training series, which will be in the fall on: Saturday, September 6, 9am-1pm; Saturday, September 20, 9am-1pm; and Saturday, October 4, 9am-12noon. $40 registration fee includes all 3 days and all resource materials. Overlooking the San Francisco Bay, Coyote Point Museum for Environmental Education provides a multi-sensory introduction to the natural history of the Bay Area, with an Environmental Hall, Wildlife Habitats area housing over 50 live animals, Gardens, and walk-through Aviary.
